Record of Youth has a reason to celebrate its first week of broadcast as it achieved the second-highest-rated premiere rating among cable dramas so far in 2020.
According to Nielsen Korea, the new tvN drama recorded a nationwide TV rating of 6.362 percent, which is second only to the 7.627 percent first episode rating of Stranger 2. A total of 31 cable dramas from six cable broadcasters had premiered so far this year.
The list below shows the top 10 highest-rated cable drama premieres from January 1 to September 7, 2020:

The 6.4 percent rating of Record of Youth translates to 1.4 million viewers nationwide, making it the most-watched prime-time series in both free-to-air and cable platforms on September 7. The drama beat SBS’s Do You Like Brahms?, which pulled in 1.1 million viewers and recorded nationwide ratings of 4.5 and 5.6 percent.

Starring Park Bo-gum and Park So-dam, Record of Youth follows the lives of young people as they struggle to get a successful career in the modeling industry and find love amid the harsh realities of life. Park Bo-gum takes on the role of Sa Hye-joon, an aspiring actor and model, while Park So-dam plays Ahn Jung-ha, an aspiring makeup artist. Byun Woo-seok rounds out the main characters as a model named Won Hae-hyo.
Record of Youth is helmed by Ahn Gil-ho, the director of award-winning series Stranger (2017) and Memories of the Alhambra (2018-2019), and penned by Ha Myung-hee, the screenwriter of Doctors (2016) and Temperature of Love (2017).
